Oppositionists Zhdanov and Volkov recognized as terrorists

Photo: Social networks

Rosfinmonitoring added politicians Leonid Volkov and Ivan Zhdanov to the list of extremists and terrorists.

According to information on the website of the department, both oppositionists are now considered involved in extremist activities or terrorism. In the corresponding list, they are mentioned in the “Included” section under numbers 2 and 3.

Figurants of the Rosfinmonitoring list are limited in banking operations – banks block their accounts, which makes it impossible for them to make non-cash transactions and use credit services.

Volkov previously headed the regional network of Headquarters of Alexei Navalny (the organization was declared extremist and banned by court order). Zhdanov was the director of the Anti-Corruption Fund (FBK, recognized as a foreign agent, declared an extremist organization and liquidated by court decision, like the NGO Fund for the Protection of Citizens' Rights).

At the end of September last year, the Investigative Committee opened a case on creation and leadership of an extremist community against oppositionists, including Volkov and Zhdanov. The maximum punishment under this article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is 10 years in prison. The investigation believes that Volkov and Zhdanov joined “criminal activities” in 2014.

Lavrov said Russia was waiting for a written response from NATO

Photo: Gennady Cherkasov

During a press conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the results of consultations between Russia and the United States on security guarantees in Geneva and talks with the participation of NATO countries in Brussels. According to him, Moscow very clearly outlined and argued in detail to its Western colleagues the need to concentrate on stopping the expansion of one bloc to the detriment of the interests of other states on the European continent.

“I would like to emphasize that it is precisely legally binding guarantees that are needed, because the political obligations that were fixed in the 90s, not to mention verbal promises, have never been fulfilled by our Western partners,” the minister stressed. – And apparently, they are not going to do this even now… We explained in detail the flaws of such an approach and the unacceptability of the one-sided interpretation of those very political obligations on non-expansion of NATO and ensuring the indivisibility of security.

According to Lavrov, written answers are expected from Western colleagues. In the meantime, Russia will continue to work to be ready in case of any development of events.

“In general, we are convinced that if there is good will and a willingness to compromise, then a mutually acceptable solution can always be found,” he added. head of department. – Let me remind you how at the beginning of last year it was possible to extend the treaty on the limitation of strategic offensive arms for 5 years without any conditions, as proposed by the Russian Federation. We appreciated this move by the Biden administration.

The need for dialogue on all issues of strategic stability, on all weapons that affect strategic stability, was agreed by Presidents Putin and Biden during a meeting in Geneva on June 16 last year. A very important statement was also adopted, which confirms the principle that a nuclear war cannot be won, therefore it must never be started.

Lavrov outlined “red lines” on Ukraine’s accession to NATO

Photo: Natalia Gubernatorova

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on the possibility of Ukraine's entry into NATO, he said that it was “a red line ”,

“We categorically do not accept the appearance of an alliance on the Russian borders, this is a real red line,” he told reporters at a press conference.

According to him, the appearance of shock troops in Ukraine weapons and NATO military bases, even without the country joining the alliance, this is also a “red line”.

Lavrov is also sure that the supply of weapons by the West to Ukraine “creates an additional temptation” for Kiev to start resolving the conflict in Donbass by force.

Lavrov allowed the West to impose sanctions for the CSTO operation in Kazakhstan

Photo: Natalia Gubernatorova

Russia's Western colleagues are capable of anything, including the imposition of new sanctions for the operation of the Collective Labor Treaty Organization Security Council (CSTO) in Kazakhstan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is sure.

At the same time, the minister did not say anything specifically about the actions of the West at a press conference following the results of 2021. According to him, the ministry does not work in standby mode, but only “on specific things.”

Lavrov also stressed that the CSTO peacekeeping mission itself helped to cope with the terrorist threat in Kazakhstan. He recalled that at the request of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the peacekeepers “helped to cope with an open terrorist threat that appeared on the territory of Kazakhstan not without outside influence.”

Earlier, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, said that the stay of the CSTO contingent in Kazakhstan played a big role in stabilizing the situation and had “great psychological significance for repelling the aggression of terrorists and bandits.” He rated the mission as a success.

Let us recall that earlier Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov noted that the Russian Federation could carry out activities along the lines of the Navy, if America continues to exert military pressure on Russia. He did not rule out that Russian military infrastructure could be deployed, for example, in Cuba or Venezuela.

“If Russia makes any attempts in this direction, the United States will act immediately and decisively,” Sullivan said.

Earlier, Jake Sullivan stated that there is a possibility that the Russian army will launch an invasion of Ukraine.

At the same time, he added that an attempted coup in this country could be a possible pretext for bringing troops . According to him, the Kremlin may come up with a pretext for invading the territory of Ukraine, including sabotage and information operations.

The son of the British Queen Prince Andrew was deprived of titles and military ranks

The Duke of York fell out of favor over allegations of sexual abuse of a minor

Trouble continues to haunt the son of the British Queen Elizabeth II – Prince Andrew, accused of sexual abuse of a minor, is forced to resign military titles and royal duties of patronage.

Photo: Still from video

“With the consent and approval of the Queen, the Duke of York is resigning his military titles and royal guardianship,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement. Prince Andrew is also losing his right to bear the title of “His Royal Highness”, according to the BBC, citing sources.

Royal Sky News commentator Alastair Bruce says the Palace's current announcement serves as “a clear statement from the Queen that the Duke of York will not be taking part in any royal events at this time”, especially as her platinum 70th birthday approaches. anniversary of the accession of Elizabeth II to the British throne: “It will be a very difficult task for the queen, because she is not only a monarch, but also a mother.”

This decision was made after the prince's lawyers failed to convince the American court to drop a civil case of sexual abuse, in which the American Virginia Giuffre accuses the Duke of York.

According to Sky News, among the military titles that Prince Andrew is being deprived of , appear as follows: Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, Royal Colonel of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, Chief of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, Chief of the Yorkshire Regiment, Deputy Honorary Commander of the Royal Lancers, Honorary Commander of the School of Small Arms Corps, Chief of the Royal Irish Regiment, Chief of the Royal Rangers of York, etc. .

Prince Andrew himself still denies all accusations against him and claims that he does not know this woman. On Thursday evening, a source close to Prince Andrew said that he “will continue to defend himself” against Giuffre's accusations. face,” Buckingham Palace said.

Some time ago, the British media reported that the court was discussing how to protect the reputation of the monarchy in general and the Queen in particular in the event of the loss of the Duke of York in court. “He cannot be forced to retire like a normal person, but he can be asked to give up his title for a while,” said a source quoted by the Times.

Earlier, Buckingham Palace reported that after Andrew’s temporary refusal to perform official duties of a member of the royal family (this happened in 2019), he will also not participate in events related to the army.

According to the press, if the outcome of the case was unfavorable for the prince, he could be sent to some kind of “internal exile”, since Andrew cannot go abroad due to the risk of extradition.

Recall that at the beginning of 2019 there were six women testified against the famous American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. In July of the same year, the financier was arrested in the United States on charges of selling people into sexual slavery, sex with minors, and bribing potential witnesses.

The arrested Epstein faced up to 45 years in prison, but on August 10, 2019, the financier was found dead in his cell. Most recently, in December 2021, an American court found Epstein's girlfriend, “socialite” Ghislaine Maxwell, guilty of child molestation and a number of other crimes.

Shortly after Epstein's death, Virginia Giuffre (formerly known as Virginia Roberts), who testified against the financier, said that in the early 2000s, Prince Andrew was a frequent participant in intimate parties hosted by the American billionaire, and she personally had sex with the son of the British queen three times. , although she was only 17 years old at that time.

Although in her early testimony, Virginia Giuffre claimed that the prince’s behavior was ordinary (“He was not rude, nothing like that, he just said “thank you” and what such nice words and left”), then she later stated that she had been sexually abused by Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew himself in 2019, Prince Andrew, in an interview with the BBC Newsnight program, said, that he does not remember ever meeting Virginia Giuffre at the time she speaks of. His lawyers also insisted that under a 2009 court agreement, Giuffre, who received compensation from Jeffrey Epstein, pledged not to sue anyone in the case related to the billionaire.

In October last year, reminds the BBC -si, the London police announced the termination of the investigation against Prince Andrew, ruling that no further action would be taken against him.

Oppositionist Yashin was informed by phone about the “murder” of Sobchak

“A cold sweat broke through me”

Russian opposition leader Ilya Yashin complained about a call from a prankster who told him about the “murder” of journalist Ksenia Sobchak. He shared the details of this story on his Facebook.

Photo: Gennady Cherkasov

Yashin said that he usually puts his phone to “night mode”, but this time he forgot to do this.

As a result, at about five in the morning, he received a call from an unfamiliar man. He asked the oppositionist to watch the news with the words that the journalist Ksenia Sobchak had allegedly been killed.

“To be honest, I broke into a cold sweat. Nothing on the news, of course. And Ksenia responded to the message quite quickly, ”said Yashin.

The author of the post added that he considers such calls to be pressure on himself. It is worth noting that Sobchak and Yashin, according to some sources, were previously in a relationship.

Zyuganov warned Russia about the “fourth call” from Kazakhstan

The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation believes that a “terrible Russophobia” has been fanned in the republic

The head of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, said that the withdrawal of the forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is an alarming signal for Russian authorities. He stated this in an interview with Free Press.

Photo: Gennady Cherkasov

“Now for the Kremlin, Putin and the fourth bell rang for all of us,” the politician said.

The first bell, according to Zyuganov, rang in the Baltic States, where, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russians were placed in a humiliating position of non-citizens.

The second – in Ukraine, where, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation noted, the Nazis and Bandera, with the support of the CIA, seized power in the country. The third call, the parliamentarian believes, sounded during the riots in Belarus after the last presidential elections.

Zyuganov added that in Kazakhstan, after the collapse of the USSR, “terrible Russophobia” was fanned, depriving representatives of the “non-indigenous population” of the opportunity to occupy serious positions. As a result, according to him, 3 million Russians and one million Germans fled the republic.

“Yesterday Kazakhstan asked to urgently bring in the CSTO contingent, today it asks to urgently withdraw it. But we must think strategically, not in momentary categories,” Zyuganov said.

The Communist Party leader added that Moscow must make decisions that would guarantee its security for decades to come.

What’s in a name? Muscovites come up with names for 28 streets and stations

Weekly “Arguments and Facts” № 01-02. Why did Kazakhstan blaze? 12/01/2022

Mayor Sobyanin invited Muscovites to come up with names for 11 streets, 15 metro stations and two boulevards. to leave your mark on the history of the city, you need to vote on the portal “ Active Citizen ''. & nbsp;

Not projected, but velvet?

“ Let's suggest names for new Moscow streets and metro stations. We launch 28 votes at once '', & ndash; the mayor wrote on his blog & shy; VKontakte.

This is not an ordinary vote, because no choice of names is offered – & ndash; you need to come up with them yourself. Most of all you will have to “ get creative '' residents of the Western District of the capital. There you need to give a name to nine new streets in Ramenki at once: a lot is being built in this area now. Most of them are located in a new residential area between General Dorokhov and Michurinsky avenues. After all, it is somehow undignified, living in a modern residential complex in Novo-Peredelkino, to name the address & ndash; Projected passage number 636. It is much more pleasant to live, for example, in Barkhatny Lane. This name appeared among the Moscow toponyms last year. Centuries ago there was the village of Orlovo (or, according to other sources, Orlovets), where in 1825 the carpet factory of the merchant Epaneshnikov began to operate, where they produced velvet carpets made of Shpanska and Russian. wool. ''

When coming up with names for streets and boulevards, you need to include not only imagination, but also logic, as well as attentiveness. If you look closely, then on the very “ AG '' the organizers of the vote give small tips. For example, in the annotation to the name of the street on the site of Projected Passage No. 1324A in the new residential complex in Ramenki it is written that “ Mosfilmovskaya Street adjoins the block from the east. '' This means that the new toponym can be associated with the name of your favorite actor or movie. By the way, in Ramenki the townspeople need to give names to two new boulevards. Residents of Brateyev and Pechatnikov will have to come up with names for only two streets. & Nbsp;

After summing up the voting results, the proposed names will be submitted to the experts of the Moscow State Budgetary Institution “ Analytical Center '' for consideration. Their task is & ndash; make sure that there are no repetitions. The department faced this in 2012 with the annexation of new territories. To avoid large-scale renaming and inconvenience, it was decided to keep the old street names in New Moscow for the time being. At the same time, the name & shy; of a city or settlement began to be added to the address. Today, the official address in the & shy; TyNAO looks like this: Moscow, Troitsk, Sirenevy Boulevard. After all, Lilac Boulevard is also in the east of the capital.

It is also worth remembering that Nagornaya Street cannot be in the lowland, and Teatralnaya & ndash; near the Technopark. A toponym can “ speak '' about the history of the place, but to name a street in honor of a person, 10 years have to pass since the moment of his death.

Where will the “ picturesque '' be opened?

While everything is clear with the streets and boulevards, it is more complicated with metro stations. The fact is that many of them have so-called working names and they have already “ stuck '' among the people. For example, the new station of the Troitskaya line to Kommunarka near General Tyulenev and Tyoply Stan streets is already dubbed by local residents as “ General Tyulenev. '' It is planned to open it only in 2024, and the name is already on hearing. Among the proposals there is also “ Sambo-70 '' & ndash; in honor of the famous sports school located nearby, and “ Picturesque '' & ndash; due to the proximity of the Moscow Academy of Watercolors and Fine Arts Sergei Andriyaka . However, it turned out that the “ Picturesque '' residents of the northwest also want to name their station of the Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya line, located near the intersection of Parshin and Zhivopisnaya streets. It will open by 2025

Station with the possible name “ Golyanovo '' The Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line will appear at the intersection of Ussuriyskaya and Sakhalinskaya streets in 3 years. I wonder who will win the vote & ndash; “ Ussurians '' or “ Sakhalin residents ''? After all, both of them want to immortalize their streets in the name. Or maybe, so that no one was offended, the new terminal of the blue line will be named in honor of the Nevelskoy or Tatarsky straits, separating the continent of Eurasia and the island of Sakhalin? Or, in general, it is better to leave it as it is, & ndash; “ Golyanovo ''?

On the “ AG '' collect ideas for other stations with working names & ndash; Novomoskovskaya Sokolnicheskaya and Yuzhny Port Lyublinsko-Dmitrov “ shy; skaya line, as well as platforms of new branches: Troitskaya (Desyonovskoe, Vatutinki), Biryulyovskaya (Caucasian Boulevard, “ shy '' 6th Radialnaya street, Lipetskaya Zagorye, Batyunino, Moskvorechye) and Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya (Linden Grove, Zvenigorodskaya). will choose unique, logical and informative names. After that, the decision of the Moscow government should come out. And only then the street, station or boulevard will receive the name that you came up with, maybe it’s you.

The toponym can “ speak '' about the history of the place, but to name a street after a person, 10 years have to pass since the & nbsp; moment of his death. & nbsp;

“Gossip, extortion, fights.” How concierges fight tenants

Several residents of apartment buildings at once complained in social networks about the arbitrariness of the concierges. According to the authors of the posts, 'the attendants at the entrance' extort money and arrange a scuffle. & nbsp;

AiF.ru found out how the concierge should receive a salary and who hires them.

The Nineties are back

This is the assumption made by a resident of the Moscow region of Kurkino Yulia Chorna. & nbsp;

“ Madame, who calls herself a “ concierge '', collects cash for her services, and neatly hangs a piece of paper with squares for everyone to see. Who passed, he is well done, and who did not pass, he will become famous throughout the entire entrance. And if suddenly you don't want to and try to get rid of the leaflet, then physical violence, abusive insults and streams of dirt in the ears of neighbors about you and your family await you '', & nbsp; & mdash; written by Julia. According to the woman, fighting off too intrusive service (or rather, from the attack of the concierge), she smashed a table in the entrance. And it turned out to be to blame: she also had to pay for the loss. The woman says that once this concierge was the senior at the entrance, no one hired her to work and did not promise to pay her salary.

The concierge knocks out money by force. Photo: Screenshot

Next is another resident of an apartment building & mdash; Zhanna Bolotova & mdash; shared her story. According to the woman, they bought an apartment and received information from two concierges about the need to pay for their services in the amount of 7 thousand rubles a month. While the renovation was going on, the family regularly gave this money, and in cash, just by writing in a notebook. They did not receive any checks or other accounting documents. But now the situation has changed: Jeanne's husband does not enter this apartment at all, since it was bought for their children, and the woman herself only sometimes appears on the doorstep. And she is always immediately confronted with rude arrivals of the attendants: they literally force the money out of the tenants. “ Their functions, these concierges, are extremely dubious, & mdash; & nbsp; Jeanne writes. & mdash; There is a code on the door. And there is a separate room cleaner. They were gone for two months (people over 65), and that was great. Now I don’t know how to get rid of this hassle. ”

“ Oh, those concierges ”

Social media users reacted violently to these posts. Basically, everyone is inclined to one thought: concierges are different, they are not always needed. Especially if they demand a lot of money for their work.

“ Oh, it's good that we have wonderful concierges and there are no such scandalous neighbors! & mdash; writes Irina Naykhovich … & mdash; And yes, we have such a sign hanging, and everyone thinks that this is normal. '' “ We had such a concierge, a similar situation, we could not get her out of the entrance, there was half the entrance for her, & mdash; Isabella Lalayan writes. & mdash; As the district policeman himself said, it is easier to get a person out of the prison than to clean it out. Somehow, a bunch of statements to the police were collected on her. And yet another scandal with the tenants was finally crowned with success. Now we don't want any concierges and there are no smells. And they only collect gossip, I also learned so much about myself, it was funny to me: they invent it on the go. ''

But there are those who speak out in favor of the concierges: “Do you think that she steals money, does not fulfill her duties, does she have an overpriced pay for work? I consider announcements with debtors unacceptable, the work of the concierges & mdash; important. As for this conflict, in order to understand something, two sides are needed. ''

“ We have a plate with debtors. 4 concierges. Ours will not let strangers into the entrance, take care of flowers and flower beds near the entrance. All nice people, they don't gossip or make friends. I think all our neighbors are happy. We were probably just lucky. I pay without problems every month 600 ₽ & raquo ;, & mdash; says Svetlana Tumanova.

To pay or not to pay

The internet is replete with complaints about concierges. However, there is also the opposite situation: those looking after the order in the entrances themselves sometimes complain about the tenants. Similar incidents happen in many cities of Russia. So, in 2017, the concierge made a remark to the owner of the dog from his entrance, and after that her husband beat the man for two days. And one jealous visitor of a young lady beat a 70-year-old concierge for refusing to keep talking with him about which other man visits his friend.

Although most, of course, complain about the opposite: concierges poke their noses into their own business, do almost nothing and spread gossip.

So, is it possible not to pay concierges? How is their service generally arranged? What threatens for the dissemination of personal data and extortion?

“ Any such aggressive actions on the part of the concierge (and in general any person) are an insult, & mdash; comments lawyer Konstantin Erokhin. & mdash; First of all, citizens need to stop the misbehavior on the part of the concierge. To do this, you need to collect all the data on insults for the last 3 months and contact the local prosecutor's office. For each case, separate proceedings may be initiated against the concierge and a separate fine awarded.

No one has the right to demand from tenants to pay for any services in cash. All calculations can and should be made only by bank transfer. If you have any questions, it is advisable to offer to conduct all negotiations in writing in order to record such requirements. ''

Oksana Vasilyeva , j. y. D., associate professor of the department of legal regulation of economic activity of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, believes that it is possible to stop the dissemination of personal data by contacting law enforcement agencies (prosecutor's office, police). For this, there may be criminal punishment under article 137 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“ Violation of the inviolability of private life '').

“ You can also be held accountable under Article 128.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (& bdquo; Libel & ldquo;), according to which libel & mdash; it is the dissemination of knowingly false information, discrediting the honor and dignity of another person or undermining his reputation. Perhaps this is your case & raquo ;, & mdash; the lawyer believes.

It is definitely worth writing a statement for beating a person and demanding compensation for moral damage. The concierge must be brought to either administrative or criminal liability, depending on the severity of the harm caused.

The activities of the concierges are regulated by the decision of the general meeting of residents. The general meeting should decide whether to hire a concierge or not, how much to pay and when. All this must be noted in the minutes of the meeting. The decision is taken by a majority vote. & Nbsp;

The management company hires a concierge, and his remuneration must go through it. Therefore, it is worth writing another complaint to the Criminal Code. For such a violation, the management company faces a fine from one hundred and fifty to two hundred and fifty thousand for improper management of apartment buildings, and for failure to conclude an employment contract with an employee & mdash; a fine from fifty to one hundred thousand rubles.

You can refuse the concierge if this decision is made at the general meeting. But, if the majority is in favor of the concierge, although you are against, you will have to pay the fees.

If the hiring of the concierge is not formalized in any way and there is no document confirming the adoption of such a decision at the general meeting, then you can simply stop make contributions and immediately indicate where the concierge is wrong, and warn about responsibility under the Criminal Code. It is also worth writing a statement of claim to the court.

“Extinct streets and burnt-out cars.” Alma-Ata through the eyes of a Russian woman

Plot Protests in Kazakhstan amid rising gas prices

In early January, Kazakhstan was swept by a wave of protests. Thousands of residents of the country took to the streets of cities, in some of them rallies escalated into riots: cars and government buildings were set on fire, shops and ATMs were robbed, and in Alma-Ata, protesters completely seized the international airport. During the unrest, the Internet was turned off in the country, and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev requested military assistance from the CSTO countries. & Nbsp;

Now there are more than 8 thousand detainees in the country, the new government, and Tokayev called the riots a “ terrorist attack '', planned and carried out from outside.

The Ministry of Defense continues to evacuate Russian and foreign citizens from Kazakhstan. Since January 8, according to the department, more than 1,700 people have been evacuated by aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry, including two diplomats with their families at the request of the Austrian and Hungarian embassies.

Russian Zarema Eskairova told how she survived the protests in the country and made it to Russia:

“ I went to see my relatives in my homeland in Alma-Ata. For us, these events were unexpected, especially since I do not watch the news at all. We celebrated grandfather's birthday on January 4 in the evening & mdash; 90 years old, & mdash; then they all left. That day I learned a little: the republic square was blocked off, there are some unrests taking place there. And the next day there was news that at night there were rallies, robberies, cars were broken.

I have not seen such hot events, only from videos on social networks, and then in the news. Our area is quiet, and almost never reached us. Only one store was looted on our street. And from the window we saw a cleanup operation in a neighboring house.

To be honest, for my entourage, close relatives, it was amazing. And I said that after what I saw on the news, as an absolutely outsider, I can see with the naked eye that everything is organized. Because our Kazakhs, I myself am a Kazakh, cannot do this: walk around their city, loot and kill people. But there is still dissatisfaction with the same pricing policy.

We were completely cut off from the outside world: no connection, no internet. Even inside the city they could not call each other. For about three days I could not get through to my mother in Russia. Only on the 8th I got through to my mother and said that everything was fine. And so my sister dialed me at night and told me that the Russian Foreign Ministry would evacuate people from the 9th, by 14:00 I had to go to the airport. It was only thanks to her that I found out about it, because there was no news, nowhere about it. I could not reach the consulate on the hot lines that are shown there on TV, and I could not reach the airport either.

The city itself is gloomy. And before that, on the 5-6th, there was still an incredible fog, the neighboring house was not visible, because it was smog, they burned a lot, tear gas. There was no one, only the streets that died out and the burned-out cars. & Nbsp;

The next day, January 9, I packed my bags, and since there was no transport, I asked a friend to take us. Smashed shop windows and ATMs were visible in the city, but the cars had already been completely removed, and people began to leave.

There was a cordon at the airport: first, the Kazakh military were standing, checking documents, there was a queue on the street. And already at the airport, our Russian military were. Registration took place in a manual format: each was recorded with passport data. I was with a child.

In my opinion, everything is very careful and effective. Our servicemen walked around, said that they would take everyone away, there would be enough planes, and they apologized that everything had been going on for so long. Local representatives of the international airport of Kazakhstan provided us with free water, food, hot tea. Then, as the planes filled up, we were sent to Moscow, to the Chkalovsky airfield. There they took someone to a taxi, someone to the nearest metro. We were accompanied, and there was no feeling that they had put us in jail and abandoned. And I already got to Ufa on my own.

The very experience of such a flight is specific: it is cool inside the plane, it is uncomfortable to sit there, because it is tough. We flew for 5.5 hours, got tired.

So far, I am also in a kind of prostration, because I love my homeland. It is very sad, woeful because of what was happening there. Why this happened, I still cannot understand for myself, probably for something it is needed. I am very glad that at one time I decided to live in Russia: according to my feelings, the atmosphere there is very tense, chaotic. I was uncomfortable even in my own city. And now I returned home & mdash; and so calmly. & nbsp;

And about the attitude towards Russian speakers … There has always been nationalism. I was born in Kazakhstan, and my mother took me to Russia, probably at the age of three. I don't speak Kazakh. And when they ask me what nationality I am, I say that I am Kazakh. They start to speak Kazakh, and I answer that I do not understand them. In response I hear: & quot; How is it, Kazakh, but you don't speak Kazakh! & Ldquo;

But in general, I think they treat Russian-speakers well, at least my surroundings: they are very intelligent and hospitable to all nationalities, including Russians.

“The unreal nature of the proposal.” How the USSR and Russia were not allowed into NATO

Plot World history with Andrey Sidorchik

The problems in relations between Russia and the West could be resolved if they were not on opposite sides of the barricades, but within the same bloc. Such thoughts are not often heard in NATO countries today, but there are still supporters of such a position.

“ Maybe NATO really should open its doors to everyone, including Russia? ''

Retired Norwegian General Robert Mood in an article published by Aftenposten, suggested changing the current approaches to relations with Moscow. According to the general, in the three decades that have passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia has not been accepted in the West as a full partner. Moreover, we are talking not only about diplomacy, but also about the attitude towards Russians in general.

“ I also don't remember seeing at least one film or TV series where the Russians would be positive, and the Western characters & mdash; negative. Western culture is promoting the US and Western Europeans as something undeniably good. And at the same time cultivates the image of Russia and Russians as something unambiguously evil, vile and primitive. We distort reality, portraying it as the main villain, and the United States and the West – & mdash; impeccable defenders of democracy '', & mdash; quotes the words of the Norwegian general of Radio Sputnik.

According to Mod, it is necessary to act differently: “ Maybe NATO really should focus more on defense and open the door to everyone, including Russia, urging its members to abandon bases and nuclear weapons outside their own territory? Unless we start thinking differently, we are likely to quickly lead to even greater conflicts and wars in both the short and long term. ''

The idea of our country's membership in NATO is by no means the know-how of a Norwegian general. For the first time this topic was discussed 70 years ago, and on the initiative of the Soviet Union.

“ To keep the Soviet Union out, Americans & mdash; inside, and the Germans & mdash; in a subordinate position & raquo;

Immediately after the end of the Second World War, Western countries, primarily the United States and Great Britain, set out to reduce the influence of the USSR in the world. Speech by Winston Churchill in Fulton, which actually proclaimed the beginning of the Cold War, was the prologue to action.

March 17, 1948 five Western European states & mdash; Belgium, Great Britain, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and France entered into the so-called Brussels Pact, the key provision of which was the creation of “ collective self-defense ''. Germany was considered as a possible aggressor in the event of the return to power of the militarists, however, first of all, the USSR was considered as an enemy.

On April 4, 1949, 12 countries, among which were the signatories of the Brussels Pact, the USA, Canada, as well as Denmark, Italy, Norway, Portugal and Iceland, signed the North Atlantic Treaty. Its anti-Soviet essence was not hidden, neither then, nor now.

First NATO Secretary General Ismay Hastings formulated the purpose of the organization's existence rather succinctly: “ To keep the Soviet Union outside, Americans ''; inside, and the Germans & mdash; in a subordinate position. ''

During NATO's 65th anniversary celebrations, then NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rassmussen stated: “Sixty-five years ago this month, NATO was created in a dangerous world. As the shadow of the USSR thickened over Europe, 12 countries on both sides of the Atlantic have banded together to defend their security and core values: freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. ''

do we join NATO? ''

Indeed, it was the noblest association: yesterday's allies of the USSR in the fight against Nazism (USA, Great Britain, Canada), together with those who were allied with the Third Reich (Italy), as well as those whose independence was paid for with the blood of Soviet soldiers (Norway ), were preparing to put an end to the “ dangerous Bolsheviks. '' With a country that not only made the greatest contribution to the victory over fascism, but also suffered heavy losses in this struggle, incomparable with the losses of other European states.

At the same time, the North Atlantic Alliance was not a response to similar actions of the USSR & mdash; There was no pro-Soviet military bloc in Europe at that time.

At the same time, Western diplomats in conversations with Soviet colleagues insisted: NATO is exclusively defensive in nature and thinks only about “ protecting the world. ''

When Turkey was included in NATO in 1952, again declaring the peaceful nature of the organization, Joseph Stalin in his usual ironic tone, he remarked: “ Shouldn't we join NATO then? ''

The legend of Soviet diplomacy Andrei Gromyko has publicly declared more than once: “ If this pact was directed against the revival of German aggression, the USSR itself would have joined NATO. ''

Soviet note and Western response

Gromyko became the ideological inspirer of the Soviet Union's attempt to join NATO, which took place in 1954.

On March 31, 1954, the USSR government sent an official note asking for admission to the North Atlantic Alliance. The document said: “ The North Atlantic Treaty Organization would cease to be a closed military grouping of states, it would be open for the accession of other European countries, which, along with the creation of an effective system of collective security in Europe, would be of great importance for strengthening global peace. ''

The West's response was overwhelming: “The unreal nature of the proposal is not worthy of discussion.” However, the United States was ready to consider such a possibility in the event that the USSR abandoned its bases in the Far East, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Germany and Austria, and Moscow signed a number of arms limitation treaties on Western terms. At the same time, the “ collective West '' He was not going to undertake any obligations.

Calling things by their proper names, the USSR offered a surrender, akin to the one that Mikhail Gorbachev later went on , and then continued Boris Yeltsin … But the Soviet leaders of the 1950s, despite their many shortcomings, were not idiots.

On May 9, 1955, West Germany was admitted to NATO. That is, in violation of all previous agreements of the member countries of the anti-Hitler coalition, they made the country that initiated the Second World War a member of the military bloc.

Five days after the admission of West Germany to NATO, Moscow made a retaliatory move & mdash; The USSR and the socialist countries created the Warsaw Pact Organization for Peace and Security in Europe. The Soviet alliance, whatever one may say, was only a response to the actions of the West.

Yeltsin's big goal

The collapse of the socialist bloc and the USSR gave birth to a new reality. In which, in December 1991, Russian President Yeltsin sent an appeal to NATO, announcing joining the North Atlantic Alliance as one of the goals of his foreign policy.

In Russia in the early 1990s, the idea of NATO membership was indeed discussed, but the general background was negative. And there was no clear answer to the question & mdash; if the Cold War is over, why do you need a bloc that was previously conceived against the communist Soviet Union?

Today, from the published correspondence of Western diplomats, it becomes clear & mdash; both the United States and Europe understood perfectly well that any NATO expansion to the East would be perceived by Moscow extremely negatively. All the main Russian political forces saw this as hostile actions towards Russia, and Washington was well aware of this.

Agreeing to Russia's NATO membership could have changed the entire history of international relations, but the West found it more logical to act as the victor in the Cold War. & mdash; that is, ignoring Moscow's opinion on this issue altogether.

“ Maybe look at the option that Russia will join NATO ''

Today it's hard to believe, but his career as President Vladimir Putin started out as a politician with a very pro-Western outlook.

While still acting. head of state, in early 2000 in an interview with BBC he said he was considering Russia's membership in NATO: “Why not? I do not exclude this possibility & mdash; in the event that Russia's interests are taken into account, if it becomes a full-fledged partner. ''

The same topic was discussed at the talks with US President Bill Clinton … In 2017, Putin recalled it this way: “During the discussion, I said:“ Maybe look at the option that Russia will join NATO. ” Clinton replied: & bdquo; I don't mind & ldquo ;. But the entire delegation was very nervous. ” One could even say that he went against the opinion of the majority of Russians, believing that relations with the West were extremely important for the future of Russia.

“ We have a fair right to ask frankly & mdash; Who is this enlargement against? ''

In 2004, the so-called 'fifth NATO enlargement' took place. The block included not only the former socialist countries, but also the former republics of the USSR & mdash; Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

No one was going to take Russia's opinion and interests into account, getting off with general words about “ partnership ''.

In his famous Munich speech in 2007, Putin bitterly stated: “The process of NATO enlargement has nothing to do with modernizing the alliance itself or ensuring security in Europe. On the contrary & mdash; this is a serious provoking factor that lowers the level of mutual trust. And we have a fair right to ask frankly & mdash; Who is this expansion against? And what happened to the assurances given by Western partners after the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact? Where are these statements now? … Now they are trying to impose on us new dividing lines and walls & mdash; even virtual, but still dividing, cutting our common continent. Really, it will take many years and decades again, a change of several generations of politicians, to & bdquo; make out & ldquo; and & bdquo; dismantle & ldquo; are these new walls? ''

The speech of the President of Russia was considered aggressive in the West. But Putin just called a spade a spade, having ceased to pretend that our country is satisfied with such a situation.

The West responded in 2008 with the Georgian attack on South Ossetia & mdash; an attack carried out by an army trained with the help of NATO instructors and equipped with weapons from the Alliance countries. The attack on Tskhinvali was the first open military challenge to Russia. And this challenge was accepted.

The conciliatory idea of the Norwegian general is unrealistic for just one reason – & mdash; The North Atlantic Alliance, created against the USSR, has always seen an enemy in Russia as well. The enemy, which is so necessary for both politicians and merchants, because the image of a “ threat '' so easy to play in elections and when receiving budgets.

“Don’t look at the faces of the strong.” The Russian Prosecutor’s Office turns 300

For questions from AiF answers the former Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation (2000-2016), Prosecutor's Office historian Alexander Zvyagintsev.

From “ Petrov's nestling ''

Konstantin Kudryashov , AiF.ru: Alexander Grigorievich, for a significant part of your life you have been studying the history of the prosecutor's office, have written dozens of books, several scripts and even plays, in 1996, thanks to your efforts, a gallery of all Russian prosecutors general appeared in the building of the Prosecutor General's Office. Do you know how it all began?

Alexander Zvyagintsev: October 22, 1721 Peter I took the title of emperor. Then Russia celebrated the victory in the Northern War, regained access to the Baltic Sea. Reforms were in full swing in the country. But the emperor wanted the transformation mechanism he launched to work quickly and smoothly. He saw that the country needed a new state institution, headed by a person with the broadest powers, subordinate only to the emperor & nbsp; and performing three main tasks: to suppress any extortion, to monitor the implementation of laws and control the state apparatus. And on January 12, 1722, Peter signed a decree on the establishment of the Russian Prosecutor's Office, and on April 27 – & mdash; “ On the position of the Prosecutor General '', whom the emperor calls not only “ our eye '', but also “ solicitor of state affairs. ''

From that time until the October Revolution of 1917, this post was held 35 people.

Pavel Yaguzhinsky. Photo: Commons.wikimedia.org

& mdash; And which of the prosecutors of tsarist Russia would you single out?

& mdash; There were many worthy ones. One of the brightest prosecutors general was the first of them, the favorite of the emperor, Count Pavel Yaguzhinsky … Knowing several languages, he was famous for intelligence, eloquence and secular demeanor. At the same time, he was not inferior to Peter in hard work and was not afraid to boldly express to him everything he thought. The emperor needed an independent figure who could not only react to violations of the law, but also prevent them. Therefore, the attorney general had the right to report to the sovereign at any time. Yaguzhinsky died 11 years after Peter. In the last years of his life, he experienced both downs and ups, but he never had such an influence as in the times of Peter the Great.

The second Prosecutor General I would mention was Alexander Vyazemsky … He was already appointed by Catherine in 1764 and personally wrote him an instruction, which, in particular, said: “ I really love the truth, and you can speak it without fear of anything. And to argue against me without any fear, if only that good would produce in business. And I will add to this that I do not demand any kindness from you, but the only sincere treatment and firmness in business. Then the villains you will be in fear, and the good people & mdash; in patronage.

In fact, Vyazemsky served as ministers of internal affairs and finance. He went down in history by ordering to take into account financial expenses and income for each year, that is, it was on his initiative that the drafting of the annual budgets of the empire began. He also participated in the famous provincial reform of 1775, during which Russia was divided into provinces, acquiring a harmonious and precise administrative management. President of Finland Mauno Koivisto in his book “ Russian Idea '' noted that in those years the Attorney General was actually the Prime Minister. It was Vyazemsky, who served as prosecutor general for almost 30 years, who began to appoint prosecutors in the province and demand from them regular reports on everything that happens there. Many of his approaches to the prosecutor's service became the forerunners of modern prosecutorial activities.

On September 8, 1802, Emperor Alexander I issues a manifesto on the establishment of ministries. From now on, the duties of the Prosecutor General have been entrusted to the Minister of Justice. The first to be appointed to these two posts was the poet Gavriil Romanovich Derzhavin … He was categorically intolerant of embezzlement, deception and machinations and instructed the servants of Themis: “ Your duty is to preserve the laws, not to look at the faces of the strong, not to leave orphans and widows without help, without defense. ''

Derzhavin himself wrote that he began to serve “ with all diligence, honesty, all kinds of diligence and disinterestedness. '' But for his adherence to principles, he quickly made many enemies for himself and a year later was dismissed from service. “ You serve very zealously '', & mdash; the emperor rebuked him. “ And I can't serve otherwise, & mdash; Derzhavin answered. & mdash; Sorry & raquo ;.

And another prominent figure who combined the posts of Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General was Nikolai Muravyov , “ the most talented of the Prosecutor Generals, '' as his contemporaries called him, who worked from 1894 until the first Russian revolution 1905 With his active participation, the new rules of legal proceedings & ndash; a single court for all estates, an open and adversarial trial with the participation of lawyers and prosecutors, to which, if necessary, the jury could also be involved, & mdash; spread throughout the empire.

In general, in the history of Russia there were many people who devoted their lives to serving the Fatherland and the Law.

The era of revolutionary legality

& mdash; Who would you single out among the prosecutors who left the biggest mark in history after the 1917 revolution?

& mdash; The institution of the prosecutor's office in Soviet Russia was liquidated after the revolution. Although in the anti-Soviet governments and the White Army, the prosecutor's office remained throughout the years of the Civil War. By the way, the word “ prosecutor '' then preserved miraculously. It was suggested to call them “ fortified treasures '' & mdash; “ fortifiers of revolutionary legality. '' But Lenin, shortly before his death, insisted on the previous name.

The first Soviet Prosecutor General Dmitry Kurskiy. Photo: Public Domain

In May 1922, the State Prosecutor's Office of the RSFSR was created. The first prosecutor of the republic was D. I. Kurskiy. And on June 20, 1933 the Prosecutor's Office of the USSR was formed. The first prosecutor of the USSR was I. A. Akulov , a man of crystal honesty, who was shot in 1937.

In total during the years of Soviet power there were 11 prosecutors, and since 1946 & mdash; general prosecutors of the USSR (including the prosecutor of the Supreme Court of the USSR P.A.Krasikov ) and 19 & mdash; RSFSR. Many of them were notable figures, and yet I would single out N. V. Krylenko (Prosecutor of the RSFSR 1929-31, People's Commissar of Justice 1931-38), as well as two prosecutors of the USSR: A. Y. Vyshinsky (1935-39) and R. A. Rudenko (1953-1981).

Krylenko, whose name is associated with the entire history of the formation of the organs of Soviet justice, was from the breed of sacrificial revolutionaries, fiercely hating class enemies, believing in the possibility of building a socialist paradise on earth and ready to shed rivers of blood for this. The organizer of the first revolutionary tribunals, he was known as a brilliant orator and polemicist, in whose speeches considerations of revolutionary expediency were decisive.

N. V. Krylenko, 1918. Photo: Public Domain

At the same time, Krylenko was a very versatile person. It is difficult to find another among Soviet prosecutors who would have such hobbies far removed from jurisprudence, in which he achieved true mastery. By the age of 50, Krylenko was not only a leader in legal science, but also a famous climber, who more than once stormed impregnable mountain peaks, sometimes even alone. He wrote several books about his campaigns. In addition, he was involved in the development of tourism, led the Society of Hunters and the country's chess organization. He was also a fan of Esperanto and even wore a green Esperanto star on his chest. Often, he ended processes shortly & mdash; “ Shoot! '', & mdash; and pronounced through repeated “ rrr '' and 'metallic' (“ under Trotsky '') voice. There is a well-known phrase allegedly uttered by Krylenko when he was the prosecutor of the republic and at the same time the head of the Union of Hunters: “ I have been given a mandate for both animals and people. '' Shot in 1938

Another notable lawyer of the Stalin era & mdash; Andrey Yanuarevich Vyshinsky. A very educated, even talented, but one hundred percent man of Stalin, ready to fulfill without batting an eye any of his instructions. Yes, he did not wait for instructions, he himself foresaw. It was he who first picked up the leader's thesis that under certain conditions, “ the law will have to be set aside. '' His teachers can be called the leaders of the French Revolution, who operated not so much with evidence as with pompous eloquence, appealing not to the law, but to the interests of revolutionary expediency. It was he who breathed new life into the thesis, which was then hypertrophiedly exploited by the repressive machine: “ Confession of the accused ''; the queen of evidence. '' As a result, Jaguarovich, as his subordinates called him behind his back, even survived Stalin and died in New York in 1954, as the USSR's representative to the UN. Buried at the Kremlin wall.

Roman Andreevich Rudenko. Photo: Public Domain

In 1953, Roman Andreevich Rudenko, was appointed the Prosecutor General of the USSRwho has worked in this position for 27 years. In the history of the prosecutor's office, this was a whole era, and a humane era. Even before his appointment as Attorney General, his surname became known all over the world: it was he who acted as the main state prosecutor from the USSR at the trial of Nazi criminals in Nuremberg in 1945-1946. Rudenko had his own account of the Nazis: one of his brothers died at the front, the other ended up in a concentration camp, and the third was seriously wounded. He headed the investigation team in the case of Lavrenty Beria , the commission for the rehabilitation of victims of political repression. Along with Georgy Zhukov he initiated the adoption of the resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU “ On elimination of the consequences of gross violations of the law in relation to former prisoners of war and members of their families. ''

Many prosecutors did not return from the war. They were replaced by yesterday's front-line soldiers, among whom there were 14 Heroes of the Soviet Union. In 1947 B.V. Kravtsov began to work in the bodies of justice. In 1960 he was appointed first deputy prosecutor of the RSFSR, after 7 years & mdash; Prosecutor of the RSFSR, and from 1984 to 1989 held the post of Minister of Justice of the USSR.

And not so long ago, a monument to A. M. Rekunkovu, the Prosecutor General of the USSR from 1981 to 1988. He also came to the Prosecutor's Office after the war, only in 1944 he received four orders and was wounded twice. He rose from the assistant to the district prosecutor to the prosecutor general of the country. Under him, investigations began in the USSR in cases that caused a huge public outcry. The most notorious cases were cases of corruption in the Krasnodar Territory and Central Asia. The attorney general supervised them personally.

For a year & mdash; 5 million hits

& mdash; What merits of the prosecutor's office of the new Russia would you mention?

& mdash; The modern history of the prosecutor's office dates back to January & nbsp; 1992, when President Yeltsin signed the Federal Law 'On the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation'. The first prosecutor general of Russia was V. G. Stepankov . The times were difficult, separatist sentiments intensified in some regions, and hostilities began in the Caucasus. Representatives of the prosecutor's office took part in the restoration of the constitutional order, bringing the statutes and constitutions of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in line with the Constitution of the Russian Federation, largely thanks to them, the unity of Russia was ensured.

Since 1991, we have had 9 prosecutors general. The prosecutor's office itself today has 51 thousand employees. According to the current Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation I.V. Krasnov, in 2020 the prosecutor's office received 5 million applications from citizens, for 9 months of 2021 – & mdash; 3.7 million. During this time, prosecutors received 910 thousand people at personal receptions. All of them are focused on ensuring that each of the appeals is considered and, if there are grounds, measures of the prosecutor's response are taken.

The very word “ prosecutor's office '' comes from the Latin take care. It is the concern for the interests of citizens, the protection of their rights, and assistance in difficult situations that are becoming one of the main missions of Russian prosecutors today.

By the way – How and when was the Day of the Worker of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation established? – In 1995 A. N. Ilyushenko performed the duties of the Prosecutor General, – says Zvyagintsev. – Having studied my memo on the history of the creation of the Prosecutor's Office of Russia and having read the first volumes of historical research presented to him, he practically reacted to my report – about the establishment of a professional holiday for the employees of the Prosecutor's Office. And for the first time he announced this on May 28, 1995 during a solemn meeting on the occasion of the formation in 1922 of the State Prosecutor's Office of the RSFSR. True, the decree on the holiday was signed by B.N. Yeltsin on December 29, 1995 already under Yu.I. Skuratov.

“Gray minutes” by Sergei Korolev. If it weren’t for him, we would have remained second

Weekly “Arguments and Facts” № 01-02. Why did Kazakhstan blaze? 12/01/2022

In books, films, documentaries and fiction, in most memoirs, academician S. P. Korolev seems to be a tough, stern, even merciless person. Thus, the main cosmic const & shy; handler who was able to ensure the breakthrough & shy; of mankind into space.

Writer, journalist, & nbsp; laureate & nbsp; USSR State Prize & nbsp; Vladimir Gubarev:

It is not true! Sergei Pavlovich was completely different – He never betrayed his comrades-in-arms, appreciated a joke, was charming in companies and endlessly devoted in love to a woman. This is how I remember him. Here are some episodes from his difficult and not very long life. Born on January 12, 1907, he passed away at the age of 59, also in January.

About the feeling of guilt & nbsp; before Gagarin

Oleg Ivanovsky , presenter the designer of Vostok, who saw off Yuri Gagarin in flight, at every our meeting he talked about Sergei Pavlovich Korolev. Through the endless love and respect for the joint venture (as Korolev was called at the firm), the idea that it was human qualities that attracted talented people to the boss slipped through.

& ndash; He did not remember evil, he valued dedication in people, the ability to evaluate the main thing and the absence of fear of the authorities. He could forgive everything and everyone, but not himself & hellip;

& ndash; What exactly? & ndash; I asked.

& ndash; He felt guilty before Gagarin & hellip;

& ndash; ?!

& ndash; Yes! Glory, success, all kinds of celebrations in honor of the first manned flight into space & ndash; this is only the ostentatious side of this great event. And there was another: he, the Chief Designer, put the young guy on the brink of death … A lot of gray hair appeared when Yuri was in flight. And then he carefully examined the ship, paying attention to the very details, the defects of which almost led Gagarin to death.

Even on Earth, the hatch tightness sensor failed. Ivanov and his comrades managed to quickly open the hatch, bend the sensor, and close the hatch again. But immediately after the start, communication with the ship was lost. The microphone in Korolev's hands trembled, his face turned pale, became unrecognizable. The connection was soon restored. At such moments, the hair of the chief designers turns gray & hellip;

Then ballistics said that the “ East '' launched into an off-design orbit. Again “ gray minutes '' & ndash; is it possible to land a ship? Or will Gagarin stay in orbit for two weeks? And the oxygen supply & ndash; for a matter of days. From such thoughts you can not only turn gray, but also lose your mind.

And then the brake motor ran for less than the estimated time. In addition, the instrument compartment did not separate, the ship began to spin & ndash; “ the corps de ballet happened, '' Gagarin would later comment on. And plus to this, the lining of the descent vehicle caught fire – no one had ever seen this, and therefore it was scary. When the message finally arrived that Yuri Gagarin was on Earth, Korolev slowly sank into a chair.

Did Sergei Pavlovich dream of flying into space himself? The question, of course, is rhetorical, but it seems to me that if there was such an opportunity, it would certainly fly.

About freedom

The first rocket engine RD-1, designed by engineer V. P. Glushko , which headed the design bureau of the special department number 28 (“ sharashka '' of the NKVD in Kazan), was installed on the Pe-2 aircraft in 1943. From August 22 to November 18, 1943, 40 flights were carried out with the inclusion of the RU-1. The speed gain was 200 km/h! This is how the liquid-propellant jet engine began its work, which was soon to play a major role in the fate of rocketry.

Prisoner V.P. Glushko was summoned by Stalin … He was carried to Moscow in a separate compartment by two female escorts. From the Kazansky railway station to the Kremlin was carried out on foot & ndash; there was no money for the tram. Hour Glushko told the owner of the Kremlin about his accelerators. Stalin ordered the immediate release of the Chief Constant and asked him to write the names of those who deserved early release. Valentin Petrovich immediately wrote a list of 35 people & ndash; everyone I remembered. The second in it was Sergei Pavlovich Korolev.

About the attitude towards those & nbsp; who are around

Once at Baikonur, while preparing for the launch of a rocket, Korolev noticed an engineer reading a book. Sergei Pavlovich looked at the cover and flared up: 'Immediately to Moscow' woo! The very first flight. And a statement of his own free will! ''

He will be angry all day. Complains to Keldysh : “ Blossom! They already read novels on the start page. '' a person a lot: he did not notice his weaknesses, did not punish him for a mistake, never humiliated him, if he knew, felt that he was devoted to work. This was the highest & shy; criterion for his assessment of a person.

Korolev loved dogs very much. He constantly asked about their well-being, and when he came to the laboratory, he gently ruffled them. It was hot at the training ground, the dogs drank a lot of water. The duties of the soldiers guarding the enclosures included providing the animals with water. Once, passing by, Sergei Pavlovich saw that the bowls were empty. He was terribly angry, ordered to put “ on the lip '' careless soldier, and here to pick up someone who loves animals.

New, 1961 was greeted, as usual, & ndash; only the closest friends & shy; me and colleagues. We sat down at the table 10 minutes before midnight, raised a toast to the past year. In general, 1960 turned out well, although it could have been better. When the clock struck midnight, Keldysh got up. They said about him that he was laconic, stern, dry. But those whom he considered friends saw him differently – cheerful, lively, talkative. And not only at these meetings on New Year's Eve, but also at launches.

With Mstislav Keldysh at the XX Congress of the CPSU. Photo: RIA Novosti/Alexander Sergeev

“ For a space year! & ndash; said Keldysh. & ndash; And for the flight of a man! '' They clinked glasses of champagne and fell silent. All at once. Everyone imagined how it would be. And then they started the music. Korolev danced twice with his wife. Gradually, two groups were formed. The men began a “ holiday workshop, '' although each time they sat down at the table, they agreed that there was not a word about business today. Well, the wives & ndash; about their own: they have long been accustomed to this scenario of holiday evenings. The Korolevs returned home at about three. And at 10.00 Sergey Pavlovich left for work. The & nbsp; on weekends and holidays, he summoned those with whom he could not meet on weekdays, there was not enough time. So today cosmonaut instructors and one of the scientists, who definitely wanted to talk with the Chief, should arrive. Korolev automatically named the date: “ January 1 ''. And now he thought that this astronomer from Tartu probably spent New Year's Eve on the train, and he felt guilty in front of a man he had not even seen.

And about the final

Chief Theorist and Chief Designer. Mstislav Keldysh and Sergey Korolev. For a long time I was looking for an image that could express Keldysh's attitude to science. And explain why he began to serve her.

He once said of a scientific discovery and the feelings of the person who made it: “It reminds me of Grieg . He walked in the field and heard a simple village girl singing a song to his melody. And he realized that his music had become a part of her soul. His creation entered the people's soul. It is such a joy that seizes the researcher when he sees that his discovery will transform life. ''

With Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, they were not only associates, but also close friends. Our Motherland owes Keldysh and Korolev the fact that we launched the first artificial Earth satellite and the first man into space. Without these two people, no doubt we would have remained second. However, as it happened when they were gone.

From the memoirs of N. L. Timofeeva, Assistant M.V. Keldysh at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR: “ A few days before the operation, Sergei Pavlovich arrived at the Academy. He was sad and stayed with the president for a very long time. When he came out, he sat with us for a while and said that he was going to have an operation. It was felt that this was very disturbing to him. A few days later he called Mstislav Vsevolodovich by phone, but he was absent. Sergei Pavlovich asked to say hello to him and say that he was leaving for the hospital, the car was already waiting. Then & hellip;

Then the academician V.P. Mishin, who was in the “ Kremlin '', phoned on the day of S.P. Korolev's operation, and quietly said: “ S. P. died. '' It was scary, I didn't want to believe it! After all, he just spoke to us on the phone. I wrote a note to Mstislav Vsevolodovich, who was holding the meeting in the conference hall. He looked at the note and put it aside. I was just dumbfounded: what is he? Continues to lead the meeting! Suddenly he took the note again, read it and simply collapsed into a chair. I got up, stopped the speaker and read the note aloud. Everyone froze. It was quiet in the hall. What they heard seemed incredible! ''

Probably only M.V. Keldysh understood in these difficult days that the fate of Russian cosmonautics would now be different.

Tokayev continued his attack on the Nazarbayev era

The second President of Kazakhstan made public his claims against the first The President of Kazakhstan called on the businessmen who got rich under the first leader of the country to help the people. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev fulfills the public's request for justice, but runs the risk of provoking discontent among the elites, experts warn

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev (first left) at a meeting with the leaders of political parties' factions

Claims against the circle of the first president

On Tuesday, January 11, Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, speaking by video link to the deputies of the national parliament, for the first time in almost ten days of instability in the country, mentioned the first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, who has the official title of leader of the nation (Elbasy). Tokayev did not mention his name even on January 5, when he announced that from that day he himself headed the Security Council (in accordance with the law, this post was to be occupied by Nazarbayev for life). “ Thanks to the first president '' The elbasy in the country has a group of very profitable companies and a layer of wealthy people, even by international standards. I believe that it has come to pay tribute to the people of Kazakhstan and help them on a systematic and regular basis, '', & mdash; Tokayev said on January 11.

According to his proposals, a public fund “ To the People of Kazakhstan '' will be created. The government will have to agree on the list of companies that will make contributions to it, and their size. “ In addition, I expect active participation from those persons who, in fact, possessing huge funds, are in the shadows. I am sure that the fund can become another tool for consolidating society, will strengthen the sense of social justice in citizens '', & mdash; added Tokayev.

Also during this meeting, he repeated that he considers the National Security Committee (KNB) to be guilty of the tragic events, which “ could not and did not want to '' discern a critical threat. KNB chairman Karim Massimov was detained on January 6 on suspicion of high treason. During his long career, Masimov has been Nazarbayev's assistant on foreign policy, deputy prime minister and prime minister of the government, head of the presidential administration and chairman of the KNB. He is the only high-ranking official who was detained these days.

At the same time, the government was dismissed, headed by Askar Mamin, whom Nazarbayev had appointed prime minister a month before his transition to the post of head of the Security Council. In the Samruk-Kazyna investment fund, whose mission, Tokayev recalled, is to improve the national welfare of Kazakhstan, and all its structural divisions will be audited (Nazarbayev heads the fund's advisory board).

After Nazarbayev's dismissal from the post of head of the Security Council, experts interviewed by RBC called the incumbent president the main political beneficiary of the events that had taken place – & mdash; his tandem with Nazarbayev has been destroyed. Tokayev's statements do not directly say that it is the first president of the country who is guilty of creating the crisis, but it follows from them that he created a system in which incomes were distributed unfairly, says Stanislav Pritchin, a senior researcher at the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at the IMEMO RAS. However, the expert calls Tokayev's rhetoric “ pure populism '' & mdash; after all, all companies in the country pay taxes, the problem is & mdash; in the distribution of funds received. “ Did Tokayev intend now to revise the results of the privatization of the 1990s, during which this class of large owners was formed? This will jeopardize the investment climate in the country '', & mdash; the expert warns.

An attempt to revise tax policy, especially in relation to big business, which has lobbying opportunities, media and political representatives, & mdash; it is always a game with fire, the example of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, whose actions caused a huge number of conflicts, is typical here, the expert warns.

Tokayev & mdash; very consistent politician. His statement today is a manifestation of the initially declared policy of transparency and a listening state. In accordance with the logic and concept of the listening state, it takes action ',' mdash; the director of the Center for Analytical Research “ Eurasian Monitoring '' assessed the actions of the Kazakh President Alibek Tazhybaev.

Tokayev's new team

On Tuesday, the new government of Kazakhstan, headed by Alikhan Smailov, was also approved. He is 49 years old, he was born in Alma-Ata, a mathematician by education. In public space, Smailov was not accompanied by a scandalous train of any corruption or other backstage scandals in any position, the Kazakh edition of Informburo writes. The new prime minister managed to work with Tokayev in 2003, at the Foreign Ministry, when the current president headed him.

In total, the new government has 16 ministers, of which seven are new. Interior Minister Yerlan Turgumbayev retained his post. Among those who lost their portfolios, & mdash; Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov, Kairbek Uskenbaev was appointed to replace him (he was Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development). There was a change in the Ministry of Energy: instead of Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Bolat Akchulakov was approved as its head (he was the managing director for asset management of Samruk-Kazyna JSC). Instead of Marat Beketayev, Kanat Musin, chairman of the judicial collegium for administrative cases of the Supreme Court, was appointed Minister of Justice. Atamkulov & mdash; a member of the 'family', as Nazarbayev's inner circle is called in Kazakhstan,

Mirzagaliyev became the 'scapegoat'; for the decision that led to an increase in the price of liquefied gas, and the Minister of Justice constantly sabotaged all the initiatives and instructions of the president, the Kazakh political scientist Marat Shibutov assessed the reshuffle.

As stated in the report, the rocket flew 1,000 km and hit the target accurately. The test was attended by the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un.

The statement also says that the firing was carried out in order to “ confirm the data on the technical characteristics of the developed missile. ''

On the eve of the tests by the DPRK reported the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff. According to the military, the rocket flew over 700 km above the sea at a maximum altitude of 60 km. The Japanese government suggested that the DPRK launched a ballistic missile.

Pyongyang's actions were condemned by Washington, which stated that it violated numerous UN Security Council resolutions and posed a threat to neighboring countries. Politico Reveals Details About US “Secret Military Aid” To Ukraine

Politico: The United States will donate a $ 200 million US radar system and marine equipment to Ukraine as part of aid to a country that is “in danger”, will supply Ukraine with a radar system and marine equipment, the newspaper writes. On the eve of CNN reported that the Biden administration secretly allocated $ 200 million for these purposes

State Department called on Russia to explain the exercises near Ukraine

The US, as part of the de-escalation around Ukraine, called on Russia for clarification about the exercises. The Ministry of Defense announced new exercises in the west of the country the day after the State Department called on Russia to “return its troops to the barracks.” This is necessary for de-escalation around Ukraine, according to the US

Ned Price

The US authorities expect that, as part of the deescalation efforts, Russia will provide explanations about the military exercises near the border with Ukraine. State Department spokesman Ned Price said this at a briefing.

“ In this case, de-escalation would imply the return of the Russian military to the barracks, an explanation of these maneuvers or their termination, the return of these heavy weapons to places of their usual storage, '' & mdash; he said.

Price said a “ de-escalation atmosphere '' is needed to make progress in the security talks between Moscow and Washington. Among the measures the United States believes is needed to reduce tensions, a State Department spokesman named “ the return of troops to the barracks. '' and 'transparency around any legitimate exercises on Russian soil.'

On the afternoon of January 11, the Western Military District announced the beginning of exercises at training ranges in the Voronezh, Belgorod and Bryansk regions bordering Ukraine. Also, the maneuvers started in the Smolensk region. As stated in the Ministry of Defense, about 3 thousand servicemen of the Red Banner Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District are involved in the exercises, they will work out marches under the influence of sabotage and reconnaissance groups of a conditional enemy.

The Ministry of Defense announced the start of new exercises in the West Military District (the second in the past month: the previous exercises were held at the end of December on the day of the professional holiday of the air defense ground forces) the day after the talks between the representatives of Russia and the United States on security in Europe that took place in Geneva. The Russian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, the American & mdash; First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

Sherman called the negotiations with Ryabkov “ frank and direct. '' According to her, Russia has assured the United States that it does not intend to invade Ukraine, since 100,000 Russian military personnel are engaged in maneuvers and exercises. “ But I will note that none of this [the United States] notified, and it is characteristic that we notify each other about the exercises where we can. And they [Russia] can prove that they really have no intentions, by de-escalation and returning the troops to the barracks, '' & mdash; she added.

The Russian embassy in the United States said it did not understand the logic of Sherman urging the country to “ return its troops to the barracks ''; and explain what the essence of the maneuvers at the border with Ukraine is. The diplomats noted that Russia will continue to conduct exercises on its own territory, since this is its choice and is in the interests of security.

The Russian authorities, commenting on reports in the Western media about plans for an “ invasion '' to Ukraine, denied this information and repeatedly stressed that Russia has no “ aggressive plans '' in relation to other countries, and the movement of troops within the borders & mdash; this is her internal affair.

Investigative Committee of Belarus found a montage in a recording of negotiations with a Ryanair pilot

Investigative Committee of Belarus: the recording of negotiations with the Ryanair pilot published by Poland was edited The Polish recording of the negotiations between the dispatcher of the Minsk airport and the pilot of the Ryanair aircraft, on which Roman Protasevich was flying, was digitally processed, the UK said

the airport and the pilot of the Ryanair liner, on board which was flying the former editor-in-chief of the Nexta Telegram channel (the Belarusian authorities recognized him as extremist) Roman Protasevich, there are signs of installation. This was stated by the deputy head of the department of the Investigative Committee for Minsk Andrei Motolko in the film of the ONT TV channel.

Last December, this recording was made public by the press secretary of the Minister-Coordinator of the Polish special services Stanislav Zharin. According to Motolko, her phonoscopic examination was carried out in Belarus. The experts came to the conclusion that the recording “ contains areas with signs of editing, characteristic of combining several previously recorded phonograms, '' says a representative of the Investigative Committee. This means the recording has been modified and digitally altered, he says.

On the recording provided by Warsaw, one can hear that the dispatcher and the pilot communicate in English, but during the negotiations the employee of the Minsk airport is advised in Russian by an outsider. The dispatcher informed the aircraft commander that, according to the information he received, there was a bomb on board the airliner, and recommended the pilot to land in Minsk.

In Warsaw, they said that the instructions to the air traffic controller, who contacted the pilot of the plane and gave him a false message about the bomb, were given by a KGB officer of Belarus. However, the ONT channel claims that the person with whom the dispatcher consulted, & mdash; this is the head of flights of the Minsk regional dispatch center Yevgeny Tsyganov.

“ This is my voice. The crew requested a lot of information. The dispatcher might not know. I intervened knowing my documents. And I made decisions. The final decision is mine, & mdash; Tsyganov said. & mdash; When making a decision, the crew asked what code the situation had. I said the code is red. ''

The head of the aviation department of the Belarusian Ministry of Transport Artem Sikorsky, commenting on the post made public by Poland, accused the Ryanair pilot of violating the instructions. According to him, the crew commander, having received the code “ red '', should have landed the plane at the nearest airfield, that is, in Vilnius, and not fly to Minsk. At the same time, Ryanair previously said that the crew received information about mining from Belarusian air traffic controllers, who gave instructions to land the plane in Minsk.

The Ryanair plane flying from Athens to Vilnius was forced to land in Minsk on 23 May. Protasevich and his girlfriend, a Russian woman, Sofya Sapega, were taken off the flight and detained, and later they were arrested. The ex-editor-in-chief of Nexta was accused of organizing riots. Until June 25, Protasevich and Sapega were in a pre-trial detention center, but then they entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation, they were transferred to house arrest. On December 8, Sapieha was finally charged with incitement to social hatred and discord, crimes against information security, rules for handling personal data, threats against law enforcement officers.

Before the publication of the recording of the talks by The New York Times with a link The sources said that the dispatcher, who fled from Belarus to Poland, told the law enforcement agencies of this country that the threat of an explosion on board the liner was deliberately false. He called the emergency landing of the airliner an operation to capture Protasevich, organized by the Belarusian special service.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the American authorities expect their Russian colleagues to clarify the military exercises that are taking place in the west of the country, near the border with Ukraine.

“De-escalation in this case would imply the return of the Russian military back to the barracks, an explanation of the country's leadership about these maneuvers or their termination, as well as the return of all heavy weapons to their places of normal storage,” Price said.

According to him, progress in the US-Russian security talks will depend on an “atmosphere of de-escalation.”

remember that recently the Western media and the Ukrainian side have been reporting about the allegedly impending Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russian troops inside the country can move as they please and are not going to who to attack.

“Murder could not be avoided”: what is wrong in the case of the Rostov policeman

Political scientists named the best and worst regions of Russia in terms of quality of governance

Khakassia and Kalmykia headed the anti-topop for the quality of management of the APEC: Khakassia and Kalmykia headed the anti-top of the regions for the quality of management In 2021, Kalmykia was among the anti-leaders in management. Moscow rose from seventh to second place among the leading regions. The average indicator of management quality as a whole has not changed, APEC experts say

Governor of the Tyumen Region Alexander Moor

The most manageable

The Tyumen Region took the first place among the Russian regions in terms of the quality of management, as well as a year ago, the second place was taken by Moscow, which rose by five points, & mdash; These are the results of the study “ IX rating of management efficiency in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in 2021 '', conducted by the Agency for Political and Economic Communications (APEC; RBK has the document).

Tula region dropped from second place to fourth, Belgorod & mdash; from fourth to fifth. Chechnya also dropped one point. The Chelyabinsk Region entered the top 10 best in terms of the quality of regional management, which took eighth place (compared to 13th last year). Sakhalin Oblast, which previously occupied tenth place, dropped to 14th.

Resource regions often become leaders among the subjects, but it is important that their authorities know how to manage these resources, said Rostislav Turovsky, co-author of the study, regionalist, to RBC. “ There are examples of poorer regions that achieve managerial success, & mdash; he stressed. & mdash; Often this is not influenced by the change of governor, that is, we are talking about a successfully operating system. ''

The indicators of management efficiency in the constituent entities were assessed according to criteria divided into three blocks: political and managerial, social and financial and economic. The final overall rating & mdash; it is a generalization of the indicators of these blocks (their arithmetic mean). 204 experts took part in assessing the effectiveness of management in the regions. When making an assessment, their opinions and statistical indicators of the region were taken into account.

As criteria for assessing the political and administrative block, in particular, the level of support for the head of the region and the result of United Russia were analyzed. in regional elections. In the social block, among other things, the provision of a subject with doctors, budget expenditures on education and other factors were taken into account. In the financial and economic block, such indicators as the level of debt burden on the regional budget and the quality of budget management were assessed.

Among the leaders of the rating, only one region raises questions – & mdash; Belgorod region, because Vyacheslav Gladkov has been running it for a little over a year, “ this period seems insufficient for the highest ratings, '' political analyst Konstantin Kalachev told RBC. “ The Tyumen region takes the first place quite deservedly, the second place of Moscow has a convincing justification, & mdash; he continues. & mdash; The successes of the Tula region are evident. ''

Over the year, the most noticeable rise in the ranking was the Nizhny Novgorod Region & mdash; from 32nd to 20th place. This may be due to the large-scale celebration of the 800th anniversary of the capital of the region (about 32 billion rubles were spent on it), the report says. At the same time, the total number of subjects of the Federation with an average score of management quality over 0.7 (the maximum score is & mdash; 1) fell from 29 to 10 over the year.

Difficult to manage

The last line in the APEC rating, as in the previous year, was taken by Khakassia. Ingushetia and Kalmykia, as well as Buryatia, which were previously at the bottom of the list, also fell into the group of outsiders. Kalmykia, being in the penultimate place, like Khakassia, received the final efficiency score below 0.5. Among the most problematic regions are two more Siberian republics & mdash; Tuva and Altai. Karelia and North Ossetia have left the group of outsiders, and Ossetia has risen to a relatively high 69th place.

Khakassia's position in the rating is not surprising, political analyst Kalachev believes. “ The quality and efficiency of regional governance can be considered a rationale and explanation for the upcoming resignations, & mdash; he told RBC. & mdash; It is not surprising that Khakassia is an outsider, since the resignation of [Communist Governor Valentin] Konovalov is predictable and expected. ”

Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Kurgan, Novosibirsk regions and the Jewish Autonomous Region are also among the regions that occupy the lower positions in the list. Four more regions worsened their positions and dropped into this group, including the Khabarovsk Territory, where, as a result of regional elections, Mikhail Degtyarev took the place of Sergei Furgal, who is under investigation. In addition, the positions of the Oryol region and two republics of the Volga Federal District have worsened & mdash; Mari El and Udmurtia. At the same time, Irkutsk and Vladimir regions, as well as Karachay-Cherkessia, managed to leave the problem group.

In the regions that hit the bottom lines of the rating, there are both objective problems and failures in management, weakness of personnel policy, lack of a “ bench, '' says political analyst Kalachev. “ The head of Buryatia, Alexei Tsydenov, who does not have sufficient experience and skills, but at the same time the overly conflicted head of Kalmykia Batu Khasikov, an experienced official Oleg Horokhordin, whose personal rating in the Altai Republic leaves much to be desired '' real outsiders in matters of management efficiency & raquo;, & mdash; he added.

In the summer of 2021, the National Credit Ratings Agency; (NKR), commissioned by RBC, prepared a list of regions by living standards. The leaders were Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Belgorod region, the Moscow region and the Voronezh region. The leader of the APEC rating, the Tyumen region (its capital previously topped the rating of management efficiency in urban districts) came in eighth place. At the very bottom of the list were Tyva, Karachay-Cherkessia, Altai and Kalmykia, as well as the Jewish Autonomous Region. Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Tyumen region were also included in the list of the most “ alarming '' regions, according to CROS. & laquo; National Republics & mdash; these are usually regions with weak economies and no less weak management elites, and the change of heads there does not change much, in this case & mdash; for the better & raquo;, & mdash; Turovsky, the co-author of the study, told RBC.

Nazarbayev’s eldest daughter Dariga contracted COVID-19

The daughter of the first president of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva was infected with COVID-19 Until May 2020, Dariga Nazarbayeva headed the republican parliament. President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, by his decision, prematurely terminated her senatorial powers, but she remains an acting deputy

Dariga Nazarbayeva

Former Senate Chairman and eldest daughter of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev Dariga Nazarbayeva contracted the coronavirus. Her assistant reported this to the Orda.kz portal

“ The course of the covid is average '', & mdash; she said.

According to her, Nazarbayeva is currently “ at home in Almaty ''.

In the press service of the Mazhilis (lower house of parliament) RIA Novosti also confirmed that she is on sick leave and therefore was not present at the meeting.

RBC applied for a comment to the press service of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Earlier, against the backdrop of large-scale protests in Kazakhstan, the government led by Askar Mamin resigned, an emergency regime was introduced throughout the country. On January 11, the President of the Republic of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed the former First Deputy Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov for the post of Prime Minister of the country, and also approved the new composition of the Government of Kazakhstan.

In addition, Tokayev announced that he had replaced Nursultan Nazarbayev as head of the republic’s Security Council, which he had held for almost 30 years. According to Nazarbayev's press secretary, Aidos Ukibai, the ex-head of the republic “ himself decided to transfer the post of chairman of the Security Council to the president, as he was well aware that riots and terror demanded a prompt, tough and uncompromising response from the country's leadership. '' He also clarified that the former head of state is “ in direct contact '' with Tokayev and remains in the capital of Kazakhstan.

A day earlier, Tokayev said that it was precisely because of the actions of the first president that “ a group of very profitable companies and a layer of rich people, even by international standards, appeared in the country. '' He also proposed to create a public fund “ People of Kazakhstan '', where companies approved by the government will need to make regular contributions.

Dariga Nazarbayeva was born in 1963 in the city of Temirtau. She graduated from Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov and Kazakh State University named after M.V. Kirov (now Kazakh National University). She entered politics in the mid-2000s, becoming a member of the lower house of parliament. In 2015 – 2016, Nazarbayeva served as Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. Since 2016, she has moved to the upper house of parliament, heading the committee on international affairs, defense and security.

In March 2019, Nazarbayeva was elected Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. The appointment of Nazarbayev's daughter to the post of head of the Senate, as well as the appointment and then election of Tokayev as president, took place during the transition of power launched by the country's first president in 2019, when he announced his resignation.
