According to the source, during the fierce fighting, Ukrainian forces could use up to several thousand artillery ammunition per day.

Western countries, including the United States, began supplying weapons to Ukraine even before the start of the Russian special operation. At the end of March, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Western states and Ukrainian troops can use the vehicles of the transport company DHL, as well as vehicles with medical symbols and UN and OSCE emblems when transporting weapons.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in turn, said that Russia would consider convoys with foreign weapons as a legitimate target.

Nevertheless, on April 15, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the United States had not yet noticed Russia's attempts to stop the supply of American weapons to Ukraine.

Through the supply of weapons, Washington is trying to help Ukraine to take the strongest possible position “both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table,” said US national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

According to him, the United States is working around the clock to deliver weapons and military assistance to Ukraine and is looking for weapons from its allies and partners, which, if transferred, the Ukrainian military will be able to use without additional training. So, he cited the recent transfer of S-300 air defense systems by Slovakia as an example.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov assured that the supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries would not prevent Russia from achieving the stated goals of the special operation.

In August 2021, Kremin called the Ukrainian language the “code of the nation”, and its use in all spheres of public life— tribute to the people of Ukraine.

Fortune learned about Abramovich’s visit to Kyiv to revive negotiations

Businessman Roman Abramovich visited Kyiv to try to restart peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, the magazine writes. Abramovich's representative denies these data

Roman Abramovich

Businessman Roman Abramovich visited Kyiv to discuss the possibility of resuming the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine, which has stalled, writes the American magazine Fortune, citing informed sources.

Abramovich's representative denied these data. “No, this is incorrect information. Mr. Abramovich is not in Kyiv and has not been there recently,— he told RBC.

Advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak March 31 said that Abramovich is “extremely efficient”; mediator during the negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations.

“He partially moderates the process from the point of view, so that there is no misunderstanding “at the entrance.” That is, when a side declares something, and the other side misunderstood it, from the point of view of the logistics of the negotiation process, — Podolyak explained.

The Kremlin drew attention to the fact that the businessman was not an official member of the Russian delegation. According to the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, he is “involved in providing certain contacts”; between Moscow and Kiev.

Before the start of negotiations between the delegations in Istanbul on March 29, Abramovich was seen at the Dolmabahce Palace, where the meeting was taking place. He talked with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, next to them was Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavosoglu.

Cavusoglu noted that Abramovich “is making sincere efforts” to help resolve the situation in Ukraine.

Shortly before this, The Wall Street Journal reported on the symptoms of poisoning, which were found in Abramovich and two other people who took part in the negotiations in early March. They complained of redness of the eyes, tearing and peeling of the skin. Later, a source close to the businessman told the BBC that Abramovich had recovered and continued to take part in the negotiations.

Peskov said that reports of symptoms of poisoning in Abramovich are not true and are part of the “information war”.

After the start of Russia's military special operation in Ukraine, Abramovich visited Kyiv and Lvov, the interlocutors of the newspaper said, adding that he had a personal meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

The Times wrote that Abramovich also gave Putin a note from Zelensky, which outlined Kyiv's conditions for a peace agreement.

Zelensky announced the need for more than one meeting with Moscow

Vladimir Zelensky announced the need for several meetings with the Russian leadership to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the meetings are necessary to resolve issues in the east of the country =”Zelensky announced the need for more than one meeting with Moscow” />

To resolve the Ukrainian conflict, more than one meeting between the leadership of Moscow and Kyiv will be required. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Ukrainian online media.

“I don’t think that you can meet once and agree on everything. Because there are many questions. For some, I don’t see yet that they will go for our option, or we will go for their option, & mdash; he said. In addition, Zelensky called for a meeting with the Russian leadership as soon as possible.

“They (the Russian side.— RBC) want to meet when there are already final agreements on all points. I will honestly say, with all due respect to all negotiators, to all negotiation processes, I can’t have everything decided for me, — said the President of Ukraine.

As an example of an issue that requires several meetings to resolve, Zelensky cited the situation around Donbass. “They (Russia, the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.— RBC) want to permanently change the status in this part, but we want some kind of agreements so that those people who are there, who consider themselves Ukrainians, so that they know where they live, that not on some island in the middle of the land, but that it is part of some state,»,— said Zelensky.

Vladimir Zelensky has repeatedly called for a personal meeting between him and Vladimir Putin. However, in early April, Zelensky said that it would be difficult to negotiate after the events in Bucha. Earlier, photos appeared in the media from Bucha with the civilian population killed. The Russian Ministry of Defense called the photo and video from Bucha a provocation and said that during the presence of the Russian military in the city “not a single local resident was injured”, residents moved freely around the city and used cellular communications. The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the purpose of publishing materials from Bucha to disrupt the peace talks.

The Kremlin, however, does not rule out a personal meeting between Putin and Zelensky. “Nothing has changed for us. We do not reject the possibility of a meeting for our president. But we repeat once again that such a meeting is possible only after the text of the document has been agreed upon, — explained the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

Zelensky called the conditions for discussing Crimea and NATO with Russia

Ukraine will be able to discuss the issue of NATO membership and the status of Crimea after the withdrawal of Russian troops, Zelensky said: “What status can we talk about if there is equipment here?”

Volodymyr Zelensky

Kyiv is ready to discuss with Moscow the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO and the status of Crimea only after hostilities cease on Ukrainian territory and the Russian military is withdrawn from the country. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Ukrainian media.

“There is a question of NATO, let's talk. There is the issue of Crimea, we understand that when there are no shots, let's move on and talk about it. This is a normal step. I think it's normal. We will talk and we must decide. But after there are no shots and the equipment is withdrawn,— he said (quote from UNIAN).

“You say, first, a neutral status, and then we will withdraw the equipment,”— Zelensky added, referring to Russia's position.— And we are talking about what status can we talk about, if there is equipment here, which of the security guarantors will sign this?»

On March 29, negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations took place in Istanbul. At the meeting, representatives of Kyiv handed over to Moscow written proposals for a political settlement, which, among other things, provide for the neutral status of Ukraine. Russia, for its part, promised a gradual de-escalation in the Kiev and Chernigov directions.

As the head of the Ukrainian delegation David Arakhamia noted, when concluding a peace treaty, Kyiv wants clear security guarantees by analogy with Article 5 of the NATO Charter (it says that an attack on one of the members of the alliance is equal to an attack on the entire alliance), then Ukraine will fix the non-bloc and non-nuclear status. According to Zelensky, the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy and Turkey expressed their readiness to become guarantors.

The Ukrainian side also offered Russia to resolve the issue of Crimea's ownership in bilateral negotiations within 15 years, and Donbas— agreed at the meeting with the president. In the proposals voiced by Ukraine, it was noted that the ownership of these regions would not be challenged by Kiev by military means; Kyiv is also ready to ensure that security guarantees do not extend to Crimea and Donbass.

The next day after the talks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that progress had been made in terms of ensuring a non-nuclear, non-bloc status of Ukraine and guarantees of its security “outside the framework of the North Atlantic Alliance.” He also said that the Ukrainian side at the talks demonstrates an understanding of the reality of the Crimea and Donbass. In general, Lavrov assessed the results of the talks as positive progress, but added that “this is not the final result yet.”

However, in early April, after the publication of photos and videos from the city of Bucha, which showed corpses in civilian clothes, Lavrov said that the Ukrainian side was trying to break off negotiations with Russia. The Russian military left the city shortly before, the Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that during the time that Bucha was under their control, not a single local resident was injured. Lavrov called the publication a provocation, the purpose of which was “to divert attention from the negotiation process, to divert attention from the fact that the Ukrainian side, after Istanbul, began to play back, tried to put forward new conditions.”

Zelensky, after the events in Bucha, said that Kyiv was ready to continue discussing a peace treaty with Moscow, because “Ukraine must find peace.” The Kremlin says that Russia wants to end the military operation through negotiations, and the decision to withdraw its troops from the Kiev region was due to the desire to create conditions for them.

Ankara says that both Russia and Ukraine are ready to continue discussions in Turkey. However, according to Turkish officials, the parties are still far from reaching agreement on the status of Crimea and the Donbass republics, as well as the issue of guarantees for Ukraine.

Lithuanian authorities will let trucks from Russia and Belarus stuck due to queues through the border, despite the entry into force of the requirement to ban their presence on the territory of the European Union from 16 April. This was announced by Vygantas Paigozinas, Deputy Director of the Lithuanian Customs Department, on LRT radio.

The website of the Lithuanian Customs says that freight vehicles registered in Russia and Belarus will be able to leave the EU after this date, since the deadline waiting is independent of the carrier.

Trucks that queue up later than the deadline will not be allowed to leave, they will be sent to logistics centers or terminals for reloading. “Carriers will be able to take measures to resolve the current situation: unload the goods, transfer the goods to another carrier that has not fallen under sanctions, and so on,” —

Empty trucks will still be able to freely cross the Lithuanian border with Russia and Belarus, Customs added.

In early April, the European Union agreed on the fifth package of sanctions against Russia. The document, among other things, states that trucks from Russia and Belarus must leave the territory of the association by April 16. According to the Federal Customs Service (FTS) of Russia, European countries have been refusing to allow trucks from Russia and Belarus to pass since April 8, citing new sanctions. So far, the restriction has not affected the transportation of medical, pharmaceutical and agricultural products, as well as the delivery of energy carriers, non-ferrous metals and fertilizers.

The day before, the FT reported that the day before the ban on trucks from Russia and Belarus came into force, long queues of trucks formed at the Polish-Belarusian border, they had to wait from three to ten days to leave Polish territory.

Zelensky indicated readiness to discuss NATO and Crimea with Russia after the withdrawal of troops

The President of Ukraine announced the need for several meetings with Putin

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a new statement about the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine – he said that he needed to meet with President Vladimir Putin “several times”, since there are so many issues that it is impossible to agree on everything in one meeting. Zelensky is ready to discuss the issue of refusal to join NATO and the status of Crimea only after the cessation of hostilities.

Source: social networks

Zelensky noted about the content of the negotiations: he does not yet see how ready Russia is to accept the option proposed by Ukraine on some points, and vice versa.

Further, the President of Ukraine said: while the special operation is ongoing, he is not ready it's not about diplomacy.” At the same time, Kyiv is ready to conduct a dialogue on controversial issues. As for the status of Crimea and Ukraine's refusal to join NATO, Kyiv is ready for this only after the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.

This afternoon, Zelensky said in an interview with the Ukrainian media: he sees two agreements – one on security guarantees (moreover, potential guarantor countries do not yet agree to guarantee Ukraine full military protection in the event of any invasion of its territory), the second – on relations between Russia and Ukraine

Earlier, Putin clearly stated his position: there will be no meeting with Zelensky until the delegations finally agree on the text of the treaty with Ukraine. The President of Russia also drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian side moved away from the proposals that were discussed in Istanbul – it was about not extending security guarantees to Crimea, Sevastopol and Donbass, but then Kyiv changed its position. Putin has repeatedly stated: the tasks of the special operation in Ukraine must be fulfilled.

At the evening briefing, the Ministry of Defense cited data on the losses of the Ukrainian military since the beginning of the special operation – 23,367 people. And Zelensky, describing the situation in Mariupol, said: “Ilovaisk is possible” – referring to the largest defeat of the units of the Ukrainian army that fell into the “cauldron” near Ilovaisk in 2014.

Zelensky had a bummer with security guarantees from world powers

“Is this an illustration?”

Vladimir Zelensky has once again made it clear that he has no clarity on the security guarantees for Ukraine that he wants from world powers. “It will definitely be a guarantee, not an illustration?” Zelensky asked.

According to Zelensky's plan, Ukraine can sign two agreements. One – with a number of states that in the event of an attack on the country, they will provide it with a full range of military assistance, including closing the sky – as if Ukraine were a member of NATO, and will regard the attack on Ukraine as on itself. The second treaty is a peace agreement directly with Russia.

However, potential guarantors are in no hurry to give Zelensky any assurances. Among the most obvious signatories, he named Britain, the United States, Germany, France and Poland. There were no more applicants, and the states named by Zelensky are in no hurry to give him promises that would lead to a nuclear war in the event of a possible provocation against Russia in the future from the Ukrainian side.

Therefore, the President of Ukraine continues to blackmail the “allies”, stating: before the next meeting with the Russian delegation, “it is important to have an understanding” of what the guarantor countries can offer Kiev. If he does not receive special offers, then “it will be necessary to talk with the Russian Federation in a completely different way – it will again be about bilateral relations.” In addition, today Zelensky said: negotiations with Russia are possible only after the withdrawal of troops.

Moscow's position in the negotiations is diametrically opposed to Kyiv's position: there should be one agreement, and only after its signing – the completion of the special operation. It is clear that Russia will not agree to Zelensky's conditions, especially in a situation where the Ukrainian side suffered a crushing defeat in Mariupol, and the largest grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass is under threat of defeat.

The head of the EC announced the work on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia

Brussels is preparing new restrictions against Russia, including discussing sanctions against Sberbank and the energy sector, Ursula von der Leyen said

Ursula von der Leyen

The European Union is developing the next, sixth package of sanctions against Russia due to military operation in Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in an interview with Bild am Sonntag.

The measures could include further restrictions against the banking sector, she said. “Especially [we study] Sberbank, which accounts for 37% of this sector,” — she said (quoted from Zeit Online). In addition, Brussels is considering issues related to energy.

According to von der Leyen, the European Commission is now “in the process of developing smart mechanisms” through which the next package of sanctions will affect Russian oil. Earlier, the inevitability of these measures was announced by the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, according to whom, restrictions on oil and gas from Russia “sooner or later will be required.”

Von der Leyen also rejected the assumptions about the fact that the German government is slowing down the imposition of sanctions against Russia: “Germany approved all five packages of sanctions proposed by us within 48 hours. Never before has the EU acted with such unity, determination and energy as it does now. Germany played its part in this. Before becoming head of the European Commission, von der Leyen served as Minister of Defense of Germany.

As part of the already adopted EU sanctions against Russia, restrictive measures affected the reserves and assets of the Central Bank, several Russian banks, including VTB and Otkritie, the export of technological products, the supply of aircraft and spare parts for them, as well as access to European financial markets. Personal sanctions, which include the freezing of assets and accounts, have affected businessmen, top managers of companies, officials and politicians, including President Vladimir Putin.

On April 11, the EU introduced the fifth package of sanctions, which included, among other things, a ban on the purchase, import or transit of coal and other solid fossil fuels from Russia. It will take effect in August, until that time the parties can fulfill contracts concluded before April 9.

Volodin: Zelensky wants to buy time by talking about negotiations with Russia

source: wikipedia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking about negotiations with Russia, wants to buy time, as he simultaneously seeks military assistance to NATO, says State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

Volodin expressed his opinion on the Telegram channel, reacting to Zelensky’s statements that Ukraine is ready to discuss with the Russian Federation the issue of refusing to join NATO and the status of Crimea, but – after the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Volodin noted that Zelensky also spoke before the talks in Turkey, when the Russian military was near Kiev.

The Russian Federation withdrew its troops. “After that, a staging in Bucha and other provocations appeared,” the speaker of the State Duma noted.

The politician stressed that the Ukrainian authorities had abandoned their obligations. And today, according to Volodin, “the same scenario is being proposed.”

The reason for such actions by Zelensky is “obvious” to the politician: “He wants to gain time while simultaneously turning to NATO for military assistance.”

Volodin believes that the President of Ukraine needs to make a number of decisions immediately if he thinks about the citizens of his country. “First. Withdraw troops from the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics,” Volodin suggests. In addition, to fix obligations on the recognition of Crimea and the neutral status of Ukraine, “as well as on the denazification and demilitarization of the country.”

The Speaker of the Parliament stressed: “It will not work any other way.”

Another famous Briton captured in Ukraine

“I fought in Mariupol, and now I am in the Donetsk People’s Republic”

Already the second Briton who fought on the side of the Ukrainian forces was captured by the Russian military in Mariupol in recent days . The other day it became known about the capture of another subject of the United Kingdom.

Photo: pixabay.com

A British fighter was captured by Russian troops in Mariupol, according to the Daily Mail. It is known that the 48-year-old former British Army soldier Sean Pinner served as a “contract soldier” in the troops of the Kiev authorities.

The captured British was shown on television. Looking clean-shaven with no visible wounds, he said on air: “I'm Sean Pinner. I am a citizen of the United Kingdom. I was taken prisoner in Mariupol. I am part of the 36th brigade, 1st battalion of the Ukrainian marines. I fought in Mariupol for five to six weeks, and now I am in the Donetsk People's Republic.”

His capture comes after the surrender of another British citizen, 28-year-old former medical worker Aiden Eslin, who also fought for Ukrainian forces in the same trenches near Mariupol as Pinner, became known on Tuesday.

The captured Sean Pinner reportedly stated that “he doesn't want war and wants to go home.”

Since he was described as “an English mercenary who served in the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a fighter,” Pinner's friends expressed deep concern for his safety.

Sean Pinner was written about long before the start of the military operation Media, talking about those Britons who joined the Ukrainian military.

In early March, about a week after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Sean Pinner came out on the Internet with a scathing message from the battlefield, describing the situation as “chaos”, writes the Daily Mail. Since the beginning of the conflict, Pinner has been fighting as a “contract soldier” alongside the Ukrainian armed forces. At the time, he claimed to have survived “a week of intense fighting”. The 48-year-old Briton, who previously served in the Royal Anglian Regiment, also confirmed that several of his unit died in the early days of the conflict. A few weeks ago, the British media wrote quite a lot about Sean Pinner, talking about British citizens who decided to fight on the side of the Ukrainian military.

It was written about him that in the past he had experience of participating in “hot spots” in the Middle East, where he joined the paramilitaries of the Syrian Kurds. After returning from Syria, he was twice detained by British law enforcement and interrogated.

Now with dual British-Ukrainian citizenship and a Ukrainian fiancée, Aslin is said to have joined the Ukrainian Marine Corps four years ago.

Chisinau called the ban on wearing the St. George ribbon an internal affair

Moldova banned the use of the St. George ribbon, as well as the symbols “Z” and “V”. The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that these amendments do not correspond to Chisinau's statements of commitment to a neutral status .jpg” alt=”Chisinau called the ban on wearing the St. George ribbon an internal matter” />

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova called on Russia not to interfere in the internal affairs of the republic after Moscow's statements about the ban on the St. George ribbon. This was stated by the press secretary of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, Daniel Voda, to the ProTV TV channel.

“Decision-making on the mentioned issues” sovereign right of our country. We call on the Russian side to refrain from interfering in the internal and democratic processes in the Republic of Moldova”, — he said.

On April 15, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the amendments banning military symbols in Moldova, indicated that they do not correspond to Chisinau’s statements “about the commitment to the neutral status of the republic, respect for the rights and interests of all its inhabitants, pragmatic and mutually beneficial partnership with Russia.” The diplomat also recalled restrictive measures against the Russian media, “unconditional support for the efforts of the United States and its allies to oust Russia from international organizations and bodies”, “connivance” Moldovan authorities regarding anti-Russian actions near the Russian embassy. “All this, of course, affects the situation in Moldova and the general atmosphere of Russian-Moldovan relations,” — Zakharova said. Moscow expects “common sense to prevail” and Chisinau will refrain from actions detrimental to relations with Russia.

The Moldovan Parliament adopted amendments to the Code of Offenses, prohibiting the use of the St. George ribbon, as well as the symbols “Z” and “V”. This is punishable by a fine (for citizens in the amount of 20.3 thousand to 40.6 thousand rubles, officials and legal entities up to 135 thousand rubles), or from 30 to 60 hours of community service.

As stated in the Russian Ministry of Defense, the sign Z means “For the victory”, and V— “Strength in Truth” and “The task will be completed.” Initially, these letters were applied to military equipment participating in the military operation in Ukraine, then they began to be used to express support for the military.

Volodin offered Zelensky a solution to the conflict

The speaker of the State Duma, responding to the words of the President of Ukraine about his readiness to discuss NATO membership and the status of Crimea with Moscow only after the ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops, said that he was trying to gain time by asking NATO for military assistance

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin saw Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statements as an attempt to gain time. This is how he responded in Telegram to the words of the Ukrainian leader about Kyiv's readiness to discuss with Moscow the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO and the status of Crimea only after the ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops.

“He also spoke before the negotiations in Turkey, when our military was stationed near Kiev. Russia has reduced activity in this direction, withdrew troops. After that, a staging appeared in Bucha and other provocations, — wrote Volodin in Telegram. According to him, Kyiv refused to fulfill its obligations. “The same scenario is offered today. The reason for it is obvious. He wants to buy time while simultaneously turning to NATO for military assistance,— considers the parliamentarian.

Volodin suggested that the Ukrainian leader, if he “thinks about the citizens of Ukraine”, immediately withdraw troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics and fix obligations on the recognition of Crimea and the non-bloc status of Ukraine, as well as on demilitarization and denazification of the country.

The day before, Zelensky described a possible peace treaty with Russia. In his opinion, it should consist of two documents: one will contain security guarantees for Ukraine, the other— “directly its relations with the Russian Federation.”

On February 24, President Vladimir Putin launched a military operation in Ukraine to “demilitarize” and “denazification”. In addition, Moscow is seeking the status of Ukraine as a neutral state, its non-alignment, as well as the recognition of Crimea, the DPR and the LPR. The head of the Russian delegation at the talks with the Ukrainian side, presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, reported that Kyiv was proposing a neutral demilitarized state following the example of Sweden or Austria (the country does not join any of the military blocs, while it can have its own army). The Kremlin said that this option is seen as a compromise. Kyiv, in turn, seeks a cessation of hostilities, the withdrawal of troops and security guarantees.

At the end of March, during the talks in Istanbul, Kyiv handed over proposals to Moscow to resolve the conflict. According to the head of the Ukrainian delegation, David Arakhamia, Kyiv wants guarantees similar to Article 5 of the Washington Collective Defense Treaty, which means that an attack on one of the NATO members will be considered as an attack on all NATO members. In this case, the Ukrainian side will fix a non-bloc and non-nuclear status.

Former French Ambassador Reminds US of Invasion of Iraq

Gerard Haro reminded the countries of the West of the desire to “educate” everyone and the practice of using double standards. Military action in Ukraine is “no more scandalous than the invasion of Iraq in 2003,” he said

Gerard Haro

Former French Ambassador to the United States and former permanent representative of the country to the UN Gerard Haro, speaking about Russian military operation in Ukraine, reminded Western countries of their practice of using double standards. He stated this in an interview with the Chinese newspaper Global Times.

“The West very often teaches the rest of the world and uses double standards,” — Aro thinks. In his opinion, military actions in Ukraine “are no more scandalous than the invasion of Iraq in 2003.” The ex-ambassador called the military intervention of the United States and its allies in Iraq to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein “a good example of double standards.”

At the same time, he cited China as an example. “In the past 30 years, there has not been a single Chinese military intervention. The American side has a long list of military interventions, — noted the diplomat.

According to him, the United States is not ready to change. It's really part of their national character, the belief that they are a beacon of freedom in the world, Aro added.

In 2014, Aro compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to a poker player. According to the diplomat, Putin's tactic in the Ukrainian conflict was to put everything at stake and invite other participants in the game to do the same. “Of course we passed. We didn't go for it, — recognized by the ambassador. The Russian president “won because we weren't ready to die for Ukraine, and he obviously was,” Aro said.

On February 24, Putin launched a military operation in Ukraine to “demilitarize” and “denazification”. It was preceded by Russia's recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Then Putin announced the termination of the existence of the Minsk agreements, which Kyiv, according to Moscow, refused to comply. In addition to “denazification” and “demilitarization” the Russian side seeks the status of Ukraine as a neutral state, its non-aligned nature, as well as the recognition of Crimea, the DPR and the LPR. In response to Moscow's actions, Kyiv imposed martial law and severed diplomatic relations.
